About Fish Psychiatric Practice

Meet Dr. David Fish

Dr. David Fish is a board-certified psychiatrist practicing for more than 14 years and has worked in a variety of healthcare settings. Fish Psychiatric offers psychiatric services for adults and seniors and prides itself on a collaborative approach with clients. Dr. Fish believes in the importance of listening intently to every client’s story. He knows that if clients are comfortable in sharing their experiences, challenges and symptoms, they will achieve better outcomes.

Dr. Fish’s approach is to develop mutual respect by educating clients and truly providing informed consent. This means spending the time to explain diagnoses and the benefits and risks associated with different treatments. Emphasis is placed on the initial intake appointment where a thorough history is obtained to inform a comprehensive treatment plan.

Dr. Fish collaborates closely with clients primary care physicians to ensure two-way communication. Knowing that the brain is connected to the body, he is vigilant about how medical illness can impact mental health and vice-versa.

When prescribing Dr. Fish likes to follow the mantra of, “using the least amount of medication that is the most effective.” He also believes that in most cases the combination of medication and therapy is better than either one alone, and often seeks permission from clients to coordinate care with their therapist.
